RUP Flow Systems – Cartridge Replacement Procedure
1. Close valve apx. 80% to 90% = 20% to 10% open.
2. Disconnect power supplies; remove operator lever, gearing or other actuator.
3. Remove lever-locking plate if valve is lever operated.
4. Remove cartridge “Lock Blocks”.
5. Mount IFT slide-gate and pressure plate(s)
6. Connect IFT-Actuator to gearbox mounting flange and connect bonnet in a fluid tight fashion.
7. Pressure test containment prior to pulling RUP-Cartridge.
8. Retract RUP-Cartridge into bonnet and close Slide Gate to Isolate RUP-Flanges.
9. Remove Bonnet and RUP-Cartridge and replace with repaired or new cartridge.
10. Mount bonnet on slide gate, open slide gate.
11. Advance new RUP-Cartridge into locked in-line position.
12. Disconnect actuator, pressure plates, and slide gate.
13. Install Cartridge “Lock blocks”.

DISASSEMBLY:
1. Open valve.
2. Remove operator from valve.
3. Withdraw shaft using twisting action.
4. Remove bushing and stem seal
5. Remove disc by pulling and rolling out of seat.
6. Remove seat by pushing straight out of body - a rubber hammer can be used to assist or hydraulic press on larger sizes.
7. Inspect and discard parts as necessary.

ASSEMBLY:
1. Clean all reusable parts.
2. Lightly lubricate seat O.D. and seat stem holes internally with silicone oil.
3. Align stem holes on body and seat.
4. Insert seat into body by pushing or tapping with rubber hammer ( or hydraulic press on larger sizes).
5. Re-insert shaft until it slightly protrudes into bore.
6. With screw holes towards and into valve base.
7. Align shaft disc screw holes (counter bored side towards disc holes).
8. Insert "O" rings and bushing and tighten.
9. Circle valve to check assembly

Tapping Valves and Isolation

Tapping valves are used to isolate main line media while the main line is tapped mechanically. Some tapping valves are designed to be used while the line is under working pressure and in operation, eliminating system downtime. We have done all the dirty work and reduced the never ending lists of tapping valves to our favorite cost effective, durable, time tested, dependable valves you will need for any job.

Tapping Valves Description

Tapping valves are installed using a variety of techniques, including hot tapping, wet tapping, line stopping or plugging, or pipe freezing. Other applications use tapping valves for installing flow meters, probes, or control valves into an existing line. Tapping valves may be installed using a hot tap or a wet tap technique. A hot tap or a wet tap is installed using a pressure-contained tapping machine to attach a tapping valve to the existing pipeline. Hot tapping uses a nozzle or split tee welded to the surface of the existing pressurized pipe. Hot taps are used in refineries, heating and cooling applications, and steam lines. Wet taps use a tapping sleeve that is bolted to the existing pipeline to make a branch connection. Wet tapping is used on sewer or water systems.
