4000 series Cast Iron Flanged Gate Valves

American Valve's Model 4000 Cast Iron Flanged-End Ball Valve revolutionized the PVF industry. With the addition of Model 4000D in Ductile Iron and Model 4001 in 316 Stainless Steel, we are raising the standards for ball valve technology.

The 4000 Series feature a Teflon-fused ball that is more durable, less succeptible to accumulating buildup and longer lasting than an ordinary unprotected ball. This adds to a long list of advantages over other types of valves.

Flanged Ball Valves
With the help of Dupont, we developed a process to impregnate Teflon® .008" into a solid metal ball. An additional .004" is added electrostatically for smoothness. Since the Teflon® becomes part of the metal, it can't flake, chip, or peel off.

The corrosion and chemical resistance of Teflon® has been recognized around the world.  With the introduction of this valve we present an affordable (same price as most gate valves) ball valve that will outlast any unprotected metal valve in any application.

The lubricity of our Teflon® ball allows for lower torque ratings in any application, making it easier to turn and require a smaller, less expensive actuator.

We offer a complete line of actuators, gear operators and operating nuts for the 4000 series. Our unique Teflon® fused ball and lower operating torques make the 4000 series an effective alternative to cast iron gates, carbon steel ball valves and plug valves. The four-bolt actuator mounting pad is ideal for applications requiring automation.

  • Teflon® fused solid ball and Teflon® seat design.
  • Quarter turn provides instant shutoff.
  • Easy to open and close.
  • Easy to automate. Built-in mounting pads require no special brackets.
  • Much more resistant to wear...especially in corrosive applications.
  • Handle position shows immediately whether it is open or closed.
  • Throttling is permitted... open and shut are not the only working positions.
  • Can be locked in either open of closed position.
  • Easy to manipulate quarter-turn handle allows for smaller, lighter, less expensive actuator!

Advantages of the 4000 series over butterfly valves...

  • No disc in waterway to cause turbulence.
  • Same ANSI flanged dimensions as gate valves for ease of retrofit.
  • Teflon® seats, not Buna N or EPDM.
  • More suitable for steam, petroleum, and corrosive applications.
  • Main seating surface does not face upstream in open position.
  • Full opening provides superior flow characteristics.
  • Teflon® packing instead of O-ring stem seals.
  • Positive shutoff-- class VI.
  • Blow out proof stainless steel stem.

Tapping Valves and Isolation

Tapping valves are used to isolate main line media while the main line is tapped mechanically. Some tapping valves are designed to be used while the line is under working pressure and in operation, eliminating system downtime. We have done all the dirty work and reduced the never ending lists of tapping valves to our favorite cost effective, durable, time tested, dependable valves you will need for any job.

Tapping Valves Description

Tapping valves are installed using a variety of techniques, including hot tapping, wet tapping, line stopping or plugging, or pipe freezing. Other applications use tapping valves for installing flow meters, probes, or control valves into an existing line. Tapping valves may be installed using a hot tap or a wet tap technique. A hot tap or a wet tap is installed using a pressure-contained tapping machine to attach a tapping valve to the existing pipeline. Hot tapping uses a nozzle or split tee welded to the surface of the existing pressurized pipe. Hot taps are used in refineries, heating and cooling applications, and steam lines. Wet taps use a tapping sleeve that is bolted to the existing pipeline to make a branch connection. Wet tapping is used on sewer or water systems.
